Admittedly, I’ve taken a few days off. Mainly over the weekend, when I didn’t feel like sitting down at the ol’ computer again.
I’m back on my 3D bullshit today, trying to make a crate from Star Wars. Most of this learning is Star Wars-centric. It’s my thing.
So after fiddling around in Fluent, I couldn’t figure out how to do this type of boolean cut for the life of me. So I went to the source.
The Fluent Discord.
Discord seems like as good a place to ask this question. Mind you, I’m a super noob at this. So this can typically go two ways. Either I don’t get an answer OR… I get an answer I don’t actually understand.
I was surprised I got a reply from the Fluent creator and a handy little video explaining how to take a cut and unify it with a previous cut.
Here is the Video from CG Thoughts
Once I got one of the sides done I now needed to get the same thing on the other sides. Again I went exploring. Mirror only got me halfway there. but there was this instance icon that the tooltip seemed to say what I needed it to do.
All in all I used the Duplicate boolean and selected the side I wanted it copied to. Also to note when using the Fluent Panels its default depth is the last depth you chose which was perfect and ideal for this use.
Todays Render
Quick grey floor and HDRI from HDR Haven and no settings adjustment. I have some details I need to sort out but I gotta go back and work on making the Keypad to learn all the little tricks and details.
